Langkawi Island

Langkawi is made up of 99 islands in the Andaman Sea. It is the perfect spot to snorkel, swim as well as dive. Located in the north west of Peninsular Malaysia, it has a multiracial population of more than 80,000 and is part of Kedah state. Although Malay is its official language, English, Chinese and Tamil are widely spoken on the island. Langkawi is a duty free island and Kuah is it's largest town, which is located 19km from the popular Pantai Cenang that attracts thousands of international visitors each year. Langkawi is a tropical island and is mainly sunny all year round with sporadic rainfall a few months in a year. Its true dry season is from December to February. Nature lovers will be awed by its sparkling turquoise sea, padi fields and lush rainforest that's home to beautiful waterfalls as well as hundreds of species of flora and fauna. Other attractions include the Langkawi SkyCab (cable car) and Langkawi Sky Bridge. Shopping for duty-free alcohol and chocolates is a favourite with tourists too!
